Abstract
Between June 2001 and February 2002 the
Halifax Learning Zone (HLZ) and the
University of Huddersfield ran two Teacher
Associates (TA) programmes funded via the
DfES national TA initiative. Associates were recruited
via the University Careers Advisory Service (CAS) and
allocated to local schools by the HLZ.
This article describes the TA initiative and provides
details of an evaluation of scheme participants
undertaken by the School of Education and
Professional Development (SEPD) at the University of
Huddersfield. The article concludes with information
on the lessons learned from the delivery of the two TA
schemes and recommendations for future schemes.
