Abstract

This contribution to 'Research Intelligence', the British Educational Research Association (BERA) magazine for highlighting and discussing research, considers the complexity of research that focuses on the social understanding of childhood. This 'messiness' led the author and colleagues to establish the Children and Childhood special interest group at BERA.
