Past Workshops:

Building Creative Capacity

For the last two years, as part of the University’s staff development programme, a series of creative workshops have taken place as part of the Teaching and Learning, Research and Academic Programme.
Staff needed to attend all four sessions to complete the course.
Target audience: Academic staff and other staff who would like to be more creative.

Part 1: Into the Unknown - Starting creative ventures.
Part 2: Staying the Distance - Developing creative strategies.
Part 3: Thinking on your Feet - Inspiration and imagination.
Part 4: Finishing Lines – Taking creative processes to completion.

The aim of these workshops was to explore the principles and foundational attitudes that underpin creative thinking and imaginative work in creative arts.

Following these workshops sessions, the participants were able to:

Reflect upon their own creative strategies, strengths and weaknesses.
Understand the nature of creative processes and the principles underlying them.
Apply practical and thinking tools to creative projects.
Approach work/life projects in creative and playful ways.

Staff Workshops are available in 2008/09 through the Staff development Group

Student workshops have also been held.

Feedback from student workshops:

" A great workshop. I had the chance to explore my own creative abilities and to reflect on these during and after each session. Never experienced anything like it before!"

"It's a great chance to learn, reflect and have fun."

" I enjoyed the workshops very much. Great opportunity to work with other people. I also learnt some new and interesting things about myself."

All participants said that they would recommend the workshops to a colleague.
