Abstract

Architects are dreadful at responding to the context of their projects. (I’m allowed to say that – I’m an architect. ) They impose their creation on the site, perhaps decorating the bit left over round the edge with a garnish of planting. They fail to engage with the Genius Loci – the Spirit of the Place.
Rather, they like to develop an architecture of theory; an exploration of plane, space and light. In an Epoch dominated by modernism and production, architecture becomes an essay in Zeitgeist – the Spirit of the Time.
