The central work in this exhibition begins with a window presenting, one by one, sixty-six objects on a conveyor belt – some being either made by the artist, but the majority being consumer goods. Together the objects read like a set of clues to be deciphered, according to their precise placing in the overall sequence, encouraging visitors to make their own connections, and invent their own stories in order to solve the associative puzzle Gander has staged. In this work, Gander established a close parallel between the space of the work and the place of the psyche, the procession of objects and the ponderings of the mind.
