Abstract

A difficulty that electronic and electrical engineering students traditionally have in reconciling taught material covering convolution and impulse responses revolves, at least partly, around the problem of dimensions or units. It is suggested that confusion can be minimised, or avoided, by making explicit reference to the units that an impulse response takes in the context of an electronic or electrical system and explaining the origin of these units physically.
