Abstract
Diabetes is an increasingly common
condition affecting older people.
This article explores the care and
special considerations needed for older people
living with diabetes, who are living in
care homes. In particular, hypoglycaemia
(low blood glucose levels) and the potential
causes of hypoglycaemia will be explored.
This article also discusses Diabetes
in Care Homes (Diabetes UK, 2010b), which
advocates that residents with diabetes have
individual care plans tailored to their needs.
