Abstract

Today, we are living within the age of transformation from an information era to a knowledge era, with rapid development of the tools of technology, such as the internet. Professionals could be communicated with through this medium to share and reuse knowledge, regardless of their widespread locations. Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoPs) are made up of people from a variety of organizations, and they are communication led in order to generate useful knowledge. Yet to make the knowledge more useful we need to reveal it and the relationships between knowledge itself, therefore, it is essential to build knowledge mapping in specific domains to facilitate and represent the concepts. This study proposes an approach to create knowledge mapping within Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoPs) in Information Science (IS).
