Abstract
The research aims to gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which children are given opportunities to shape their learning in outdoor environments. Using the Leuven Scales of Well-being and Involvement it is possible to assess and evaluate how engaged children are when completing tasks in a range of environments. This presentation draws on data gathered whilst observing a child making a cobweb from sticks and wool. It is evident from the photographs the child is continuously engaged in the activity and completely absorbed in it.
