Hatton, Jean (2017) Intersectionality and the 'journeys' of LGB women youth workers. In: SEPD/HudCRES Research Conference, 4th May 2017, University of Huddersfield. (Unpublished)
Abstract

Sexuality, intersectionality and the understanding of ourselves: the use of ‘self’ in professional youth work contexts.
This paper considers emerging data around the breadth of experiences of five women of different ages, of different social class, ethnic and family backgrounds and their different understandings of their ‘self’.
The focus here will be on the stories of their early and current experiences and the necessity to understand how issues of intersectionality are ‘woven’ through, and have impacted on, the respondents’ experiences and their understanding of their own ‘self’.
