Abstract

This chapter represents a brief attempt to gauge how widely necrophilia is known in Britain, before moving to an examination of easily accessible “necrophilia stories” (including necrophilic murder) by the British media. An account is then presented of the interesting relationship between necrophilia, the criminal law, and those who uphold it (in Britain) before concluding with a brief case study of what is undoubtedly the most recent and prolific mention of necrophilia by the British media, the abhorrent case of Sir Jimmy Savile, OBE.
