Community pantomime provides an ideal opportunity for members within the community to come together, put on a show and share skills in all aspects of theatre design and production. The Unity Day panto in Leeds 6, UK has a long tradition in providing an accessible theatre experience for the local community and rasie funds for a summer festival that is organised each year. This showcases work from local musicians, artists and campaigning groups. As a local fashion/costume designer I have worked with various groups in the design and manufacture of costumes for the show and through the experience gained further insight into the processes that contribute successful community based workshops and skills sharing. I also performed in the show. This youtube clip contains clips from the show.
