In Britain and Europe, a variety of populist, nationalist and extremist political groups continue to raise concerns among politicians, practitioners, and civil society in general. Moreover, what we loosely call ‘the far right’ is an ever-changing phenomenon.
The aim of this one-day conference is to bring together leading academic and practitioner experts to share their current findings, as they have explored, analysed and engaged with the range of organisations that fit within the fuzzy term ‘far right’. This spans street movements such as the English Defence League, populist far right parties such as the Front National in France and extreme right wing political violence and terrorism.
The day-long event aims to cast fresh light on racist and extremist attitudes in Britain, and Europe more widely, as well as offer reflections on how to meet this challenge, both in terms of policy and everyday practice.
