Abstract

Intersecting Practices: assessing the role and impact of contemporary art in heritage spaces
Participatory Workshop

The commissioning or siting of contemporary art in heritage spaces is a growing area of contemporary practice. With many national organisations developing strategic programmes which involve artists, exploring the impact of this practice remains an underexplored area of research.

In this participatory workshop we will explore key issues raised by contemporary art projects in heritage spaces. The workshop will include lightening talks, roundtable discussion and an opportunity for networking. We aim to explore the possibility of future collaborations or networks.

Participants include:
Judith King – Arts and Heritage
Tom Freshwater – National Trust
Jordan Kaplan – Parabola Trust
Danielle Arnaud – Parabola Trust
Louisa Briggs – Bronte Parsonage Museum
Gill Park - Pavilion
Nick Cass - University of Leeds
Anna Powell - University of Huddersfield
