Abstract

Happy New Year I hope you had a peaceful and restful festive break. 2014 is set to be another year of change for mental health. The changes or austerity measures so widely reported in the December/January edition of MHN are really taking hold. I have recently started an honorary position as a Senior Clinical Practitioner in a Memory Service. Part of my induction was to sit in on consultations of a colleague and when reflecting on how she gives advice on support available for the service user and family/carer have been affected by changes (cuts) in funding including third sector organisations. I will be a valuable learning curve for me returning into practice but I hope I can perform to the caring and competent standards I witnessed from the colleague I observed.
