Research has shown that 3D technologies can be complex and daunting for the creative beginner. A series of 3D materials concept modelling workshops were setup by Andrew Taylor.
The aim of workshops was to create an opportunity for a small community of learners from BA(Hons) Surface Design, interested in beginning a 3D technologies practice for final year major project prototyping.
The focus was to create an experience where the technology became transparent or secondary to making. The student’s ‘traditional’ studio 3D making practice merged within a collaborative exploratory practice based approach to learning new 3D modelling and 3D printing technologies.
The extraordinary 3D materials blog is a reflective learning community space created for and by students to inspire, co-create and co-reflect around their personal practice. The students have co-authored all work on the blog; recording, reflecting and exhibiting their 3D Modeled materials.
