Dynamic Multi-User GPS Drawing Tool for Participatory Exhibitions

ITEM is a pilot research and development programme aimed at exploring and developing the potential of new media tools for exhibition and exposition. Organised by FACT and supported by NESTA (National Endowment for Science, technology and the Arts) and Arts Council England, the programme is supporting a small cluster of research projects that bring together artists and technologists to explore the possible future directions of new media technologies. All participants are part of a year-long programme cohort, meeting periodically for presentations and demonstrations in areas relevant to new media research and each working to a common deadline and participation in the final publication of the ITEM Programme review ; a substantial document detailing all of the projects together with essays on research and exhibition technology. The projects selected will highlight new ways of experiencing and understanding the world around us, articulated by new and emerging technological opportunities. All the projects taking place within the ITEM programme have been assessed against three main goals. These are; 1. The development of the individual participants practice 2. The development of tools for exhibition and exposition 3. The enhancement of the creative use of technology
