Ronda – The Spinning World (2016), for 9 musicians: trumpet, horn, trombone, harp, percussion, violin, viola, ‘cello, double bass + Plásticas Sonoras, instruments invented by Walter Smetak: 2 Ronda, Tres Sois & 2 Piston Cretino.

Work commissioned by Ensemble Modern and DAAD Artists-in-Berlin supported by numerous German and Brazilian partners. The premiere season took place at prestigious venues: Frankfurt’s Alte Oper and the Berlinerfestspielhaus and there are a further four performances upcoming in Brazil. This was part of the first project of scale related to Walter Smetak with a rich programme of concerts, conference and exhibition events and was highly successful in revitalising knowledge about this important figure.
