Welcome to Online QDA

Online QDA is a set of training support materials which address common problems (both early and advanced) of using Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) methods and selected Computer Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS (CAQDAS) packages. We aim to complement courses run by, for example, the CAQDAS Networking project, many independent trainers and the large number of postgraduate social sciences research methods training courses.

Materials are grouped depending on the needs of different researchers, from complete novice in QDA to advanced user of CAQDAS. The Intro section explains this and makes some suggestions about how to use this site.

We hope that members of the qualitative research community will not only find this material useful, but also will wish to contribute material of their own. This may vary from short reviews of books and web sites to more substantial essays and training materials. Please get in touch with us if you wish to contribute.

This development is funded by the UK Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) as part of its Research Methods Programme which aims to improve the standards of research methods across the UK social science community. ESRC GRANT RES-333-25-0009.

REQUALLO: Reusable Qualitative Learning Objects: Resources to support the learning of methods of qualitative data analysis in the social sciences

This new project is running from August 2007 to July 2010, and will produce six case study exemplars of data and explications of the analytic procedures from recent, real research projects. Resources will include data from the research projectís interviews or ethnographies, video interviews with the respective researchers, examples of different stages of the analysis and interactive, web-based exercises. They will be usable at a range of student levels, from first year undergraduate to masterís. This material will be offered to teachers of QDA in electronic form. By producing them as reusable learning objects (RLOs) the resources will also be made available directly to students from this Online QDA website and other online repositories.

The Development is funded by the UK Higher Education Academy as part of its National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. HEA-GRANTSGEN-EV103.
