Abstract

Dear Editor,
Insects are the most diverse and abundant taxon among Metazoa, with a number of species that, depending on the estimations, ranges from hundreds of thousands to millions, present in all terrestrial ecosystems [1]. Because of their abundance, distribution and ecology, insects play important roles in human life: pollination of fruit plants, food and fibre production, disease transmission, decaying matter recycling, etc [2].
