Abstract

Think Play is just for children? Games are only for squared eyed teenagers on their consoles? No… play and games are great tools for improving your teaching and learning practice. This report covers the author’s journey towards bringing increasing amounts of game based learning into the teaching of information literacy skills. It covers a representative range of practices I use in this area, how these have evolved over time, the theoretical basis behind them, and some tips for bringing similar techniques into your own learning and teaching practice. It finishes with an outline for creating your own learning games.
