Gander’s ‘Locked Room Scenario’ is premised on the classic Agatha Christie murder mystery in which all suspects are ‘locked’ into the same situation until the culprit is found. Taking over a large warehouse in the East of London, manipulating techniques drafted from stage design, the installation invoked a group exhibition to which the viewer was denied direct access – all of the rooms being locked. But in each case, a glimpse of the exhibition – through frosted glass, a letterbox – was given, hereby increasing the degree of mystery. To coincide with the project, Gander had a second solo exhibition at Lisson Gallery, London.
