This article describes the textile design courses currently available in the UK and looks at them in the context of the work available in the textile industry. It comes to the conclusion that courses need to be redesigned to reflect the changes in the textile design industry and need to become more efficient at providing education that will lead to employment. Currently there are too many graduates chasing too few jobs and courses need to be developed that reflect the changing needs of the industry and the world.
