Unver, Ertu, Moscovitch, Tim and Jagger, B (2001) Teaching 3D CAD: Solid or Surface Modelling in Design Education. In: 4th European Academy of Design Conference, 10-12 April 2001, University of Aveiro, Portugal.
Abstract

The paper describes our experience in teaching Solid and Surface CAD at the University of Huddersfield. This study explores the features of the two systems and their uses within the curriculum of the BA/Bsc pathways in Product, Industrial and Transport Design. We will provide a commentary upon the effect of the rapid development of CAD systems and their implications for the management of design education in the School of Design and Technology. The selection methodology for appropriate CAD software and the broader impact of the use of CAD technology on traditional design education are discussed with reference to our experience at the University.
