    Abstract

    This article investigates the use of the technique of Genetic Programming to the generation of term weight algorithms. It represents an initial study into attempting to reproduce standard algorithms and to evolving new algorithms based on user rankings. The initial results show that the technique has considerable promise and is able to reproduce standard algorithms and evolve new algorithms comparable to standard ones.
