Abstract

McKendrick and Bowden (1999) state
that podcasts stimulate the teacher’s
interest, allowing them to diversify their
teaching style, whilst meeting students’
demands. Their portability gives podcasts a
different set of affordances from traditional
‘tethered’ approaches to technology
enhanced learning (Kukulska-Hulme and
Traxler 2007).
This session will demonstrate how quick
and easy it is to create and syndicate audio
and enhanced podcasts using Audacity,
GarageBand and Vox blog. The session
will involve delegate participation in
capturing a vox pop of ideas and reactions
to podcasting during the session. Delegates
will also work in groups to put together
a short recording of how they might use
podcasting. The session will outline a
framework for developing podcasting
applications.
