Abstract

Performances of Henry Purcell's incomparable fantasias to celebrate the 350th anniversary of his birth, interspersed with music by his English precursors.

The Rose Consort is devoted to the wonderfully rich English consort repertory and is unique in its use of all gut-strung viols. The Consort performs extensively throughout Britain, Europe and North America, appears regularly on the BBC and has made a number of highly acclaimed recordings.
