Abstract
This chapter uses a narrative approach to explore issues faced by older people as health issues and other losses challenge them. Issues of meaning and purpose in life, connectedness and coping with loss are approached as spiritual as well as physical challenges and the role of health workers in supporting the spiritual needs of older people is explored. The five fictionalised narratives cover a variety of conditions and cultures and were provided by the authors and other members of the Spirituality Special Interest Group in the School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield.
