Abstract

Describes a new approach for the synchronisation of the axial and torsional dynamics of a moving nut. This is a major
contribution to the simulation techniques. The Transmission Line model (TLM) includes the distributed parameter dynamics of
the ball-screw system and the effect of mass distribution. The model was successfully integrated into an on-line real-time
condition monitoring system used for the improvement of machine performance.
