This project will identify how student perspectives on citizenship can be enriched through the practical experience of working with disadvantaged young people. It builds on the 2003-04 C-SAP project carried out at BCUC 'Embedding Citizenship in the Undergraduate Sociology Programme'. The project was thoroughly evaluated and it has proved to be a model of good practice in experiental learning for social science students. The current proposal aims to capitalise on the momentum generated by this work and to establish a network of HE institutions that can collaborate on similar projects and share good practice.
