This chapter was invited by the NSPCC for the Reader Fragile: Handle with Care. It outlines the impact of domestic violence
upon babies and young infants and the role of health care professionals in relation to support and protection. I also appear on
the accompanying video Fragile: Handle with Care (2001) talking about domestic violence. The Reader and Video form part of
the NSPCC training materials Fragile: Handle with Care (2001), focused on protecting babies under 18 months of age. It is
specifically aimed at health care professionals and is a widely used child protection training resource.
