In section one of this chapter, we briefly outline the theory that underpins it, before offering a consideration of the context for and a definition of technology-enhanced learning (TEL). In section two, we go on to consider practical applications of TEL and its potential for transformative teaching and learning through a series of illustrative examples, which seek to model approaches to TEL design in four key areas of the learning process: planning, delivering, evaluating and flourishing. We round this section off with a brief consideration of how the examples explored in this section help to develop digital literacy and relate to the learning theories that we outlined in section one. In section three, we share a selection of case studies, covering eportfolios, assessment analytics, personal learning networks, massively open online courses (MOOCs) and social learning networks in blended learning models. Thus, we aim to provide a broad range of TEL scenarios through which the benefits, challenges and drawbacks of working with technology are explored.
