This article supports the critical discussion and analysis of current policies which influence the organisation and provision of policies on dermatological health care, together with an analysis of legal and ethical frameworks discriminating how these inform health care practitioners in the decision making process; in the organisation of dermatological services we will evaluate the strengths and needs of a variety of quality assurance tools; discussing how these enable the setting of the standards of care and how this facilitates the delivery of dermatological care. Finally evaluation and utilisation of quality assurance methods will be reviewed with regard to the efficient, effective and economic use of resources and how these enable prioritising delivery of dermatological care.
