Abstract

A procedure for Alpha- Stable modelling of impulsive noise environment of an electricity transmission substation will be presented. Details of the symmetric -stable (SS) model, estimation of its parameters, and its suitability for modelling the noise intensive environment of an electricity transmission substation will be reviewed.
A model of impulsive noise specific to electricity substations would allow the assessment of risk associated with the deployment of wireless equipment for control, monitoring and surveillance purposes, in substations
