Abstract

The acid-catalysed condensation of a series of 1,1-diarylprop-2-yn-1-ols with 2-thionaphthol unexpectedly gave 3,3-diaryl-1,1-bis(2-naphthylthio)prop-2-enes in good yields via a Meyer–Schuster-type rearrangement.
