| Abstract: | The image of the crumbling tower has become an overarching motif for our age; spectacularly marking the start of this millennium with an iconic void whose repercussions stretch far into the future.The destroyed tower returns us to the ivory pagoda at Bury Museum (which long ago lost its original) and has a link with Radcliffe’s historic ruin. The line of neon text and its shadow, installed on the front of Radcliffe Metro station, form an arrow shape, following the northbound tram and hinting at an escape, but from what…? |
